Important AI Privacy Notice: LingPal uses Google Gemini and Alibaba Cloud Qwen only when users choose to use AI conversation practice. When a user types and sends a message in the AI conversation feature, the message text and related language-learning context may be sent to these providers to generate a language-learning response. LingPal does not require users to enter personal or sensitive information in AI conversations.

1. Overview

LingPal is a language learning app for Japanese, Korean, English, and French. The app provides structured lessons, vocabulary practice, listening exercises, speaking practice, mistake review, and AI conversation practice.

LingPal does not require users to create an account or log in to use the main learning features.

2. Information We Collect

Learning Information

· Selected interface language;

· Selected target learning language;

· Lesson progress;

· Exercise answers;

· Mistakes and review records;

· Learning preferences and app settings.

This information is used to provide language lessons, save progress, review mistakes, and personalize the learning experience.

AI Conversation Information

· The text you enter in the AI conversation feature;

· The conversation context needed to generate a relevant response;

· The selected target language and learning context;

· Basic technical request information necessary to provide the AI response.

Please do not enter sensitive personal information, confidential information, financial information, medical information, legal information, passwords, or information about other people into the AI conversation feature.

Purchase Information

· If you purchase a subscription or paid feature, Apple processes your payment through Apple In-App Purchase.

· LingPal may receive limited subscription-related information from Apple through StoreKit, such as subscription status, product identifier, transaction status, and receipt information, in order to unlock paid features and manage subscription access.

· LingPal does not collect or store your full payment card number, Apple ID password, or full payment account information.

Device and Diagnostic Information

· Device model;

· Operating system version;

· App version;

· Language and region settings;

· Crash logs;

· Performance and diagnostic information.

This information helps us fix bugs, improve stability, prevent abuse, and ensure the app works properly on supported devices.

Customer Support Information

If you contact us for support, we may process the information you provide, such as your email address, support message, screenshots, and related diagnostic details, in order to respond to your request.

3. How We Collect Information

We collect information in the following ways:

· Information you provide directly, such as text entered into AI conversation practice or messages sent to customer support;

· Information generated while using the app, such as lesson progress and exercise results;

· Information provided by Apple, such as subscription and transaction status through StoreKit;

· Technical information generated by the app, such as crash logs and diagnostics.

4. How We Use Information

We use information to:

· Provide language learning lessons and exercises;

· Save learning progress and mistake review records;

· Provide listening, speaking, and AI conversation practice;

· Generate AI-powered language learning responses;

· Unlock and manage paid subscription features;

· Maintain app stability, security, and performance;

· Diagnose crashes and technical issues;

· Comply with legal, regulatory, and App Store requirements.

5. AI Conversation Features and Third-Party AI Services

LingPal includes AI-powered conversation practice for language learning.

To provide this feature, LingPal uses third-party AI service providers, including Google Gemini and Alibaba Cloud Qwen, also known as Tongyi Qianwen.

When you use AI conversation features, the text you enter and related language-learning context may be sent to these AI service providers to generate responses.

The data sent may include:

· Your entered chat text;

· The selected target language;

· Relevant conversation context;

· Basic technical request information necessary to provide the service.

This data is used to generate language-learning responses and provide AI conversation practice.

LingPal does not sell AI conversation content. LingPal does not use AI conversation content for advertising tracking.

The AI conversation feature is user-initiated. When you choose to type and send a message in the AI conversation feature, LingPal sends the message text and related language-learning context to Google Gemini or Alibaba Cloud Qwen to generate a response. LingPal does not require you to provide personal or sensitive information in AI conversations, and you can avoid sending conversation text to these AI services by not using the AI conversation feature.

6. Third-Party Service Providers

We may use third-party service providers to help operate LingPal and provide app features.

These providers may include:

· Apple, for In-App Purchase, subscription management, App Store services, and system-level permissions;

· Google Gemini, for AI conversation practice;

· Alibaba Cloud Qwen, for AI conversation practice;

· Diagnostic or infrastructure providers, if used, to help maintain app stability, security, and performance.

We share information with third-party service providers only when necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. We require service providers to process information only for the relevant service purpose and to provide privacy and security protections consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable legal requirements.

7. Tracking, Advertising, and App Tracking Transparency

LingPal does not sell user data.

LingPal does not use AI conversation content for advertising tracking.

If LingPal uses data for tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, LingPal will request your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before tracking occurs.

You can change tracking permission at any time in your device settings.

8. App Permissions

LingPal may request access to certain device capabilities only when needed for app features.

For example:

· Microphone access may be requested for speaking practice or pronunciation-related features.

· Speech-related permissions may be requested where required for speech practice functionality.

· Tracking permission may be requested through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework if applicable.

If you do not grant an optional permission, the related feature may not work, but other app features may remain available.

9. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

LingPal may offer subscriptions or paid features through Apple In-App Purchase.

Payments are processed by Apple. Subscription management, cancellation, renewal, refunds, and billing are handled through your Apple ID account and App Store settings.

LingPal uses subscription status information provided by Apple only to confirm access to paid features.

10. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as necessary to provide LingPal's features, maintain security and stability, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and improve the app.

AI conversation requests are processed for the purpose of generating responses. LingPal does not use AI conversation content for advertising tracking or sale.

Where we control personal information and receive a valid deletion request, we will delete or anonymize the information unless we are required or permitted to retain it by law, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legitimate business needs.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect information in a manner appropriate to the nature of the data.

12. International Data Transfers

LingPal may use service providers located in different countries or regions. As a result, information may be processed outside your country or region.

When information is processed internationally, we take reasonable steps to require appropriate protection consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable privacy requirements.

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

You can choose not to use optional features, including AI conversation practice. LingPal sends AI conversation text to Google Gemini or Alibaba Cloud Qwen only when you actively type and send a message in the AI conversation feature.

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under applicable California privacy laws, including the right to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain sharing or sale of personal information.

LingPal does not sell personal information.

LingPal is a language learning app. AI conversation practice is provided for educational language practice only.

If we make material changes, we will provide notice by updating this page, displaying an in-app notice, or using another appropriate method.
